Word Walks: A Step Beyond Picture Walks
Maureen Ruby suggests trying “Word Walks” as a substitute for “Picture Walks”. To become accurate, efficient word readers, students need to have opportunities to interact with words. Pictures provide confirmatory clues, whereas more “thinking” (ie. predicting, inference) comes out of previewing vocabulary words. Click here for the video
